Gone too soon even after nearly two decades. Simply the best vegan Mexican food in Berkeley, particularly the taquitos and the absolutely searing avocado salsa. Wish I could go back, but alas. Hope their plan to reopen a food truck happens!

One of my all time fav restaurants. The ye Taquito are so simple yet so perfect. Fried to a crisp and flavorful, they go perfect with the house salsa which can be spicy at times The horchata is really good to, and best part, this place is vegan!

Farewell to Flacos. They're officially closing at the end of the year, and I regret not visiting more often while I had the chance. You were right down the street from me, but because I could drop by "anytime," I ended up traveling farther afield more often than not. I'm sorry I took your amazing banana leaf tamal for granted, and missed so many opportunities to dip into that lava-hot avocado salsa. I know I can never make up for that lost time. I'll miss you, friend.

You'd probably miss this restaurant easily if you weren't actually looking for it actively. A good vegan joint. Seating is split between indoors with a few 2-person tables or outdoors with 2-3 tables. They do have a large parking lot so prepare to eat in your car if it's busy Service is counter service so you order and pay upfront and your food is served at your table. We ordered a couple of items and all were good.

Just seeing this 9.26.2023 on KQEDs CHECK PLEASE BAY AREA. As a vegetarian/former vegan, I'm going to visit Flacos next time I'm in Berkeley. Is there one also one in San Jose too? Hope to add this to my "go to" places and look forward to updating my review afterwards.

I moved to Los Angeles almost 12 years ago, and I have been craving Flacos intensely for at least the last 5 years. Recently spent a week up north and was able to get my Flacos fix. My oh my, I LOVE those taquitos. Taste just the same. Delicious. I don't know what they use as "chicken," but I love the way it dries out in the oil. Give me 500 of these fuckers. Salsa still slaps (you in the face). Also got a taco and a tamal. I want to go back now and every day for the rest of my life.

The taquitos here are bussin and the tamale well eh it was ok but the winner are the taquitos. Yeah they were on the hella oily side but they were so good especially with the green sauce it comes with. The horchata was good too not sweet and deadly not watered down but right in the middle. The inside was small and cluttered with tables but you gotta keep in mind its a small little place and im just glad theres vegan stuff available. I would def eat those taquitos again lol

If you're a total health nut, this might not be the place for you, except if you order the soup! Not going to lie, but most stuff here is pretty decadent and or fried.... That's not to say it isn't addicting though! I came here with my brother & cousin who are both vegetarians and one cousin who eats pretty much anything. We each ordered an entree (different tamales) and a plate of taquitos to share as it was taquito Tuesday. It's nice that the plates come with some greens so you're not eating all fried stuff. We were warned the spice levels here are pretty spicy so we went with the medium sauce, which was just on the border of pleasure and pain. If I go back again, I might even do mild so I can eat a little more without getting sweaty! The taquitos were fairly simple: mock meat rolled in a corn tortilla, then deep fried. The protein had lots of umami on its own so I personally was able to eat some taquitos without dipping in the sauce. Add the sauce for extra oomph. It's all soooo good! The filling of my banana leaf tamale was pretty well seasoned so I didn't use much salsa on it. I had wanted to try the soup but filled up on way too many taquitos with the fam. This place only had outdoor seating for now which works considering how lovely the weather has been. It's a seat yourself & bus your own table kind of setup. Prices are super reasonable and the service is friendly. Stop by this gem if you're ever in the area! They also sell food for you to cook at home, so don't be discouraged if you don't live nearby and want your Flacos fix!
